Woman in Bedroom Killed When Mustang Driver Crashes Into Home

A woman asleep in the bedroom of a home was killed early Monday when a driver crashed a Ford Mustang into her house.

The victim, identified as a woman in her 40s who lived at the home with family members, died at the scene in the 16000 block of Lake Victoria Drive, near Perris Boulevard, in Moreno Valley. The crash was reported just before 5:30 a.m.

Sgt. Tony Hoxmeier told City News Service that the car plowed into the home after veering off of the roadway and jumping a curb. The car slammed into the bedroom where the victim was sleeping.

The woman, whose name was not immediately released, was trapped underneath the car when county fire crews reached the location. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene minutes later, according to fire department spokeswoman Tawny Cabral.

"She's a beautiful person," said cousin Lupe Castro. "She would do anything for anybody. I can't imagine her being gone."

The driver, whose name was withheld, was not seriously injured. The driver was taken into custody.
