Man Hospitalized After House Explosion in Orange

The incident happened at around 10 p.m. at the 3900 block of El Carmen Avenue, and was not caused by an explosive device according to the Orange Police Department.

A man was badly burned in a house explosion in Orange Wednesday night.

The incident happened at around 10 p.m. at the 3900 block of El Carmen Avenue. The explosion was not caused by an explosive device according to the Orange Police Department, but the exact cause remains under investigation.

The victim, who is in his early 50s, was taken to hospital and is now in a stable condition.

Nearby resident Humberto Meneses said the whole neighborhood rushed out of their homes after the explosion, and that he at  first thought he had experienced an earthquake.

“I was sitting on my couch... when I felt something like a shocking, like the earth shock real strong. The whole house shake,” Meneses said.

Four homes were briefly evacuated due to the explosion.
