Human Remains Found Near Shallow Grave

Investigators were still working to identify human remains found in the Angeles National Forest.

Detectives made the grisly discovery Saturday off Big Tujunga Canyon Road near mile marker 2.72. Homicide detectives and a sheriff's search-and-rescue team were sent to the scene.

"Due to the condition of the remains, age, gender, and identification is unknown at this time, pending the coroner’s investigation," according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

A shallow grave and trail of blood were found in the area on Jan. 9.
