Doughnut Shop, Hair Salon Robberies May Be Linked: Huntington Beach Police

Two armed males robbed a Huntington Beach doughnut shop early Thursday, a crime that is very similar to another robbery that took place at a nearby hair salon earlier this week, police said.

The robbery was reported at 12:32 a.m. at Golden Boy Donuts at 17671 Beach Blvd., said Huntington Beach police Lt. Mitchell O'Brien. The two males entered the shop and "robbed the poor guy just trying to make doughnuts," O'Brien said.

The men, whose faces were covered, took off with an undisclosed amount of cash, the lieutenant said.

No one was hurt in the robbery, he said.

O'Brien said this robbery is very similar to a robbery that took place Wednesday at a hair salon on Tuesday.

Two armed, masked men entered the salon at 10:15 p.m. on the 17300 block of Beach Boulevard and demanded cash from a female employee who was cutting a customer's hair, police said.

The men ransacked the salon and took an undisclosed amount of cash as well as the cellphones of the employee and her customer, police said.

The pair were believed to be seen leaving the parking lot in a tan or gold-colored older model Toyota Camry, Schoales said. No one was injured during the robbery.

Investigators are determining whether the two robberies are linked.
