Injured Bat Found in Azusa Tests Positive For Rabies

Anyone who may have come in contact with the animal is advised to seek medical treatment

The Los Angeles County Humane Society is handing out fliers warning Azusa residents of an injured bat found in the north end of the city that tested positive for rabies, police said.

A resident found the bat on Oct. 25 and proceeded to contact the Los Angeles County Humane Society, according to Sgt. Rick Hayden of the Azusa Police Department.

The bat was transferred to the LA County Department of Public Health, where it was confirmed that the animal had rabies, Hayden said.

The LA County Humane Society is advising anyone who may have come in contact with the bat is advised to seek medical treatment.
