Two Pedestrians Suffer Minor Injuries in Koreatown Minivan Crash at School Entrance

The adult pedestrians suffered "minor" injuries in the crash near Robert Kennedy Community Schools

Two pedestrians were hospitalized with minors injuries after a collision involving a minivan Friday morning near a school in Koreatown.

The collision occurred near Robert Kennedy Community Schools at 701 South Catalina Street. The adults, who were struck on the sidewalk, suffered minor injuries, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The woman driving the minivan was not injured. The vehicle ended up against a wall of the school, which did not appear to be significantly damaged.

"It crashed right against the wall," said witness Melissa Melgar.

The campus west of downtown Los Angeles consists of several schools at the site of the former Ambassador Hotel. The crash was near the NOW Academy building.

"It's a large school, and there are a lot of kids coming over here," said resident Donald Briones.

The school's principal issued a letter to parents in which he said the crash serves as a reminder "to respect posted speed limits, use crosswalks and pay close attention to traffic."

No students were injured in the 8 a.m. crash near the school's entrance.
