LA City Attorney Candidate Mike Feuer Hospitalized After Crash

Feuer was driving to the swearing-in ceremony of Los Angeles County's new District Attorney Jackie Lacey, according to his campaign.

While en route to the swearing-in ceremony for Los Angeles County’s new district attorney on Monday, LA City Attorney candidate Mike Feuer was involved in a car crash and taken to the hospital, where he is expected to stay for "the next few days," according to a campaign statement released late Monday.

Feuer’s was driving his Toyota Prius when he was struck by a truck, which ran a red light, the campaign stated. He did not suffer any life-threatening injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.

From 1995 to 2001, Feuer served on the LA City Council. During that time, he spearheaded the creation of the 311 non-emergency number, according to his campaign’s website.

He is currently the chair of the California Assembly’s Judiciary Committee and the Assembly’s Majority Policy Leader.

"On the way to Jackie Lacey’s swearing-in ceremony as Los Angeles County’s new District Attorney, Mike Feuer was driving his Toyota Prius and was hit by a truck who ran a red light. Mr. Feuer did not sustain any life-threatening injuries, however he will stay in the hospital for the next few days," said John Shallman, Feuer Campaign Chief Strategist.

"Mr. Feuer is expected to make a full and speedy recovery. The Feuer family thanks the media and public for respecting their privacy."
