Arrieta, Hill Square Off in High-Stakes Game 3

The Cubs' right-handed threw a no-hitter in August 2015 at Dodger Stadium

The Dodgers will face Cubs right-hander Jake Arrieta, who pitched a no-hitter at Dodger Stadium last August, Tuesday night with the NL Championship Series knotted at a game apiece.

Arrieta made one start against Los Angeles this season, pitching seven scoreless innings in a no-decision at Wrigley on May 31.

LA will send lefty Rich Hill to the mound in Game 3. Hill, a fourth-round draft pick by the Cubs in 2002, has made one appearance against his first major league team, recording two outs in relief for Boston on May 21, 2011. Hill made 57 starts with the Cubs during his first four seasons in the majors.

First pitch is scheduled for 5:08 p.m. at Dodger Stadium.

The teams worked out in Los Angeles on Monday, a day after a thrilling 1-0 Dodgers win behind a clutch performance from ace Clayton Kershaw in Chicago. Kershaw retired his first 14 batters and allowed just two hits in first outing since he pitched three times in the NL Division Series, including a two-out save in Game 5 on Thursday night in Washington.

The three-time NL Cy Young Award winner struck out six and walked one while throwing just 84 pitches in a brisk outing that could help when he returns later in the NLCS.

Julio Urias is scheduled to start Game 4 for LA. Manager Dave Roberts said Monday the 20-year-old rookie from Mexico will open Wednesday, followed by Kenta Maeda in Game 5 on Thursday "as it stands now."

Since the All-Star break, Urias is 5-0 with a 1.90 ERA. Maeda has struggled lately, allowing seven runs in seven innings over two playoff appearances. Roberts appeared to leave the door open for Clayton Kershaw to possibly pitch in Game 5.

"As this series moves on, you always have to be open to adjusting," Roberts said without mentioning Kershaw's name.
