LA Kings' defenseman Drew Doughty will not face sexual assault charges after the Los Angeles County District Attorney found there is insufficient evidence to support the claims.
The alleged victim – identified as Amanda S. – claimed the pair went to her home after a night of drinking at Baja Sharkeez in Hermosa Beach on March 1, DA officials said.
That’s when the 25-year-old woman claims Doughty had "intercourse with her against her will," DA officials said.
Craig Renetzky, Doughty’s attorney, said the hockey player is relieved by the DA’s decision.
"This has been dragging on since March," Renetzky told NBC4. "But it was a thorough investigation, nobody rushed to quick judgment and investigated every bit of the claim."
Doughty is a defenseman for the LA Kings, which won the Stanley Cup Championship in June. It was the team’s first championship win in more than four decades.
