On Saturday, the Los Angeles Rams failed to get into the end zone and fell 17-9 in Denver. For LA's football team, Saturday also marked the first loss of the preseason in the team's first road game of the exhibition season.
Despite failing to lead his team to a touchdown, Rams starting quarterback Case Keenum put on a solid display by completing eight of his 12 pass attempts for 77 yards on the day. Rookie quarterback Jared Goff, though, struggled to only complete four passes out of his 12 attempts, while third stringer Sean Mannion fell in the middle with six completions out of 12 passing plays.
As a silver lining, none of the Rams' quarterbacks threw an interception, though Denver's Super Bowl winning defense did record six sacks on the day. In contrast, the Rams never got through to the Broncos' quarterbacks.
Broncos starter Trevor Siemian appeared to have solidified his spot with an impressive outing on Saturday. The 24-year-old completed 10 of his 17 pass attempts for 122 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
Next, the Rams conclude their preseason with a road game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sept. 1. After that, the Rams begin their 2016 NFL regular season in Santa Clara against the San Francisco 49ers on Sept. 12, which is a Monday night game.
The Rams officially bring NFL regular season football back to Los Angeles on Sept. 18, when the Seattle Seahawks visit the LA Memorial Coliseum.
Notes: Eariler in the day, the LA Rams announced that they had signed wide receiver Tavon Austin to a four-year contract extension through the 2021 season.
