LA Rams to Star in HBO's ‘Hard Knocks'

The acclaimed HBO documentary series provides a behind-the-scene look inside NFL training camps as teams prepare for the upcoming season

The Rams' first season back in Los Angeles after a two-decade absence will be featured on the HBO documentary series "Hard Knocks," the team announced Wednesday.

The series' 11th edition will follow the Rams during training camp as they prepare for the upcoming NFL season, marking a return to Southern California after the move to St. Louis after the 1994 season. The series provides a look at the daily lives of NFL players and coaches as they go through grind of pre-season training camp.

"This is an exciting time for our franchise,” said Rams head coach Jeff Fisher. "Hard Knocks will be an outstanding way to bring our fans into our training camp and preseason, and give a glimpse of the hard work and dedication of our players, coaches and staff as we prepare for the 2016 season."

This season's five-episode run will premiere Aug. 9. The quick turnaround involves a 30-person NFL Films crew at Rams training camp and team headquarters that will shoot more than 1,500 hour of footage. The series has earned 12 Sports Emmy Awards since it launched in 2001 with a look at the Baltimore Ravens.

Other teams features in the series include the Dallas Cowboys in 2002. After a break, the series resumed in 2007 with the Kansas City Chiefs, Cowboys (2008), Cincinnati Bengals (2009), New York Jets (2010), Miami Dolphins (2012), Bengals (2013), Atlanta Falcons (2014) and Houston Texans (2015).

"It's exciting to chronicle a franchise with so many compelling storylines, highlighted by the team's return to the Los Angeles market and the enormously warm reception the Rams are experiencing," said Peter Nelson, executive vice president, HBO Sports.

Superstitious Rams fans should note the last six teams featured on the show equaled or improved their regular season record.
