LA Rams Take Training Camp to LA Coliseum Saturday

The Los Angeles Rams will practice at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Saturday

On Friday, the 2016 Olympics hold their opening ceremonies in the Olympic Stadium in Rio de Janeiro. A day later, the Los Angeles Rams reclaim the site of the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum will open its doors to the public, as the Los Angeles Rams return to downtown LA with a special training camp practice session on Saturday. The camera team from HBO Sports' Hard Knocks documentary series will be on the field filming, and scores of football fans from the San Gabriel Valley to the San Fernando Valley expect to pile into the stadium.

The Rams have drawn massive crowds already, as the first practice open to the public drew an eye-popping 10,112 fans to the campus of the University of California, at Irvine. Exactly a week later, the Rams will put on pads, practice running plays and prepare for the start of the NFL season at the Coliseum.

For the Rams’ young stars and proven veterans alike, Saturday will be the first time playing on the grass of the Coliseum. For a generation of fans, Saturday will also be the first time they see a professional football team playing in the heart of LA.

Coach Jeff Fisher and his players have set up camp down in Irvine for the preseason, and their offseason practice sessions took place in Oxnard. Seemingly, the Rams have been circling around the city, and finally, Los Angeles gets its first taste of the NFL. Saturday may draw big crowds for a practice, but it is only the start of the NFL madness expected to grip the city.

After Saturday's session, the Rams will return to Irvine for Monday's open practice. However, a week from Saturday will mark the Rams’ first preseason game. On Aug. 13, in a preseason game that will be nationally televised on ESPN, the LA Rams and the Dallas Cowboys will face off in the LA Coliseum.

The Rams also host the Kansas City Chiefs at home on Aug. 20 in an exhibition game. Then, the team hits the road for two preseason games before flying up to Northern California and opening the 2016 regular season against the San Francisco 49ers on Sept. 12.

In all, the Rams will play seven regular season home games at the LA Coliseum for the 2016 NFL season, starting with the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 18 and ending with the Arizona Cardinals on New Year's Day. The Rams also play in London against the New York Giants, which counts as a home game for LA.

Saturday's practice session will begin at 3:00 p.m. Pacific Time.
