Various holidays may take on various focuses -- squat little furry meteorologists nab the spotlight come Groundhog Day while leafy, limb-nice trees are the Arbor Day stars -- but only one holiday literally includes everything under the sun.
Literally.
At least on this planet, that is. It's Earth Day, of course, and while its official day of celebration is April 22, the conservation-minded happenings shall extend into the following weekend around SoCal.
One of the most prominent places to party, planet-style? The Los Angeles Zoo, which is throwing an Earth Day Expo on Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27. "(I)nteractive stations throughout the zoo" will provide "guests an opportunity to explore ideas about animal conservation and preservation, sustainable living for humans, recycling, and how to make Earth a better place to live."
Nice. More than nice, though, essential. All living beings desire that our world remain healthy -- obvious, yes, but true -- and we humans bear the important task of making it so (and changing habits that work against that cause). So placing an Earth Day bash among our fellow earthlings, whether they're furry or feathered, is so very appropriate.
