LACMA Is Free for Presidents Day

It's a Free Holiday Monday, courtesy of Target.

What to Know

  • Monday, Feb. 18
  • Los Angeles County Museum of Art
  • Free

Museums have a way of gettin' mighty busy on the weekends, which makes sense, because, well, it is the weekend.

That's when more people have more time to look at art, consider paintings, make a full circle around a fascinating, free-standing sculpture, and ponder the larger ideas that run through and around our lives.

What if, though, Monday was the ultimate day to art-up? Which again makes sense, because if we fill our noggins with nice images, and challenging notions, and all of the things that art so readily brings, we're better equipped to deal with the week immediately to come.

Which all leads to this: The Los Angeles County Museum of Art is free, free, and completely admission-less on Monday, Feb. 18, in honor of Presidents Day.

As always, this is a Target Free Monday, and there are a few of those on the calendar, courtesy of the chain.

A few things to know? There are live tunes to enjoy on Feb. 18, from WYO, makers of "cinematic music," at 12:30 p.m. and again at 2:30.

Also? Look for bilingual tours, if you'd like to go deeper into the collection and its stories.

Also? The hours are 11 a.m. to 5 o'clock, meaning you can still be home to pack your lunches for the week, all while letting the many creative wonders you saw settle into your brain and heart.

It's a good week-starter, and free to boot. Surely we mentioned that already? It's free.
