UPDATE: Power was restored overnight to all but a handful of customers affected by Thursday's outages, according to LADWP spokesman Joseph Ramallo.
Close to 6,000 customers in Los Angeles are in the dark Thursday night, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP).
As of 10 p.m., outages were reported in Encino, Brentwood and several other locations across LA.
The areas hardest hit include Sherman Oaks and Reseda, where a total of 1,600 customers were without power, and Hollywood, where 570 customers are affected by outage.
The utility has been handling outages across the city after a storm swept through the area, bringing with it flash flooding, hail and lightning. Earlier Thursday, some 1,300 DWP customers in the Silver Lake area were without power due to what appeared to be a weather-damaged power pole.
