LAPD Cracking Down on DUIs This Cinco De Mayo

The LAPD encourages those celebrating Cinco De Mayo to plan a safe way home before festivities begin.

In effort to curb drunken driving during Cinco de Mayo, the Los Angeles Police Department planned DUI checkpoints throughout the city.

Cinco de Mayo: Find Your SoCal Celebration

Additional police officers will be deployed to find impaired drivers on Cinco De Mayo Monday as part of the DUI saturation patrol.

The patrols are:

  • Central area from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Southwest area from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.
  • Hollywood area from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.
  • Hollywood area from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m.

The LAPD encourages those celebrating Cinco De Mayo to plan a safe way home before festivities begin, whether it be designating a sober driver in advance, leaving your car keys at home, using public transportation, or calling a taxi or friend to pick you up.

Four checkpoints were set up Friday between the hours of 7 p.m. and 2 a.m. and more were held on Saturday.
