The Los Angeles Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying a man suspected of two burglaries and assault with a deadly weapon at Park La Brea Apartments in Los Angeles.
Police said a man entered two separate apartments at the complex, with the first burglary occurring March 10 at about 1:40 p.m in the 400 block of Curson Avenue. The first victim was in his bedroom when heard the intruder in his living room. He approached the man who then brandished a handgun and pointed it at the victim. The man instructed the victim to back away before fleeing the apartment, according to an LAPD news release.
A man whom police believe to be the same person returned April 28 around 4:45 p.m. in the 500 block of Burnside Avenue and was found looking through the second victim's mail. The victim recognized that the subject was Korean and asked, speaking Korean, if he was lost, to which the man replied "Yes" in English before fleeing through the front door. After the suspect left, the victim discovered her credit card was missing, according to the news release.
Investigators said there were no signs of forced entry and the victim's believe the man may have been in possession of a key to the apartments.
Park La Brea Apartments is reportedly the largest apartment complex on the West Coast.
Video surveillance showed the man used the second victim's credit card at a convenience store after the burglary, police said. Police said the man also used the credit card at a restaurant and a game store.
The LAPD is asking anyone with information about the burglaries or the suspect to call police at 213-486-5350.
