A wrong-way drunk driver who plowed head-on into a car going the opposite direction on a San Fernando Valley street, killing one woman and injuring a man, was in custody Tuesday morning, police said.

The driver, a 50-year-old woman who had a blood alcohol level of .22 - more nearly three times the legal limit - was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and drunk driving, LAPD Officer James Norton told NBC4.

Norton said the collision occured at about 9:37 Monday night. The suspected drunk driver was heading eastbound in a westbound lane on Parthenia Street in Northridge in a sport utility vehicle. She slammed into a Honda that had two people in it, killing the passenger and injuring the driver.

The suspected drunk driver suffered minor injuries, Norton said, including a "complaint of pain" at the scene.
