U-Haul Truck Driver Leads LAPD on Pursuit in San Fernando Valley

The pursuit ended after the driver crashed into parked cars

A man driving a U-Haul truck through the San Fernando Valley led police on a pursuit Wednesday night.

Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department were following the vehicle, which eventually crashed into a car. The driver ran from the box truck, but was eventually taken into custody in Pacoima.

Aerial video showed the driver repeatedly trying to open the door of an apartment after bailing from the article.

The pursuit began in the San Fernando Valley and headed up the 5 Freeway toward the Newhall Pass and then onto the 14 Freeway. The truck turned around and then returned south on the 5 Freeway.

The driver exited at high speed onto Osbourne Street with multiple patrol cars behind him, blowing through the light at Laurel Canyon Boulevard.

The driver then jumped from the vehicle while it was still moving, as shown below, and ran into an apartment complex near Kagel Canyon Street and Haddon Avenue (map). The still-moving U-Haul crashed into parked cars.
