More than 100 early education centers across Los Angeles could close due to budget cuts, say protesters who picketed LA Unified School District headquarters on Monday morning.
The small group of about a dozen parents, armed with signs, voiced their outrage over the budget cuts, outside LAUSD offices located at 333 S. Beaudry Ave.
"LAUSD, save our EEC," chanted the group.
The protesters say 107 centers across LA may have to close. The centers serve low-income families who cannot afford private pre-school.
The parents are asking LAUSD to look into using millions of dollars in surplus tobacco tax money to save the centers.
LAUSD officials have not commented on the protest.
