LAX Scare Was Caused by Computer Error: Police

Flights were not affected at anytime and no one was harmed by the error.

The "questionable materials" found at the Los Angeles International Airport that shut down a cargo facility turned out to be regular cargo, the Los Angeles Airport Police said Saturday.

At 9:08 p.m. Friday, airport police received reports of suspicious cargo containing "questionable materials" in the Mercury cargo facility after crews came across its manifest while screening cargo, police said.

It turns out a mistake was made when someone entered the cargo data incorrectly into the computer as explosive materials instead of what it was, according to airport police Public Information Officer Rob Pedregon.

Flights were not affected at anytime and no one was harmed by the error, Pedregon said.
