Reports of “Prowler” Prompt Added Police Patrols

Deputies investigate three reports of a "prowler" lurking in Montrose and La Canada

Extra sheriff’s deputies patrolled streets in the foothill communities of La Canada and Montrose on Friday after reports of a prowler seen lurking in the area.

Police have received reports of at least three incidents in which someone was seen in the neighborhood.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of a possible prowler on Wednesday in the 600 block of Chatman Place in La Canada. The resident told police she was awakened by the sound of someone walking through her backyard.

She looked out the window and saw what appeared to be a man about 20 feet from her home, officials said.

The man ran away when the woman’s husband yelled at him. Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the possible prowler.

Detectives are investigating whether a crime occurred and whether the incident was related to two other prowler calls in the La Canada and Montrose areas.

Residents are encouraged to lock their homes and report any suspicious activity to Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station at (818) 248-3464.
