Possible Kidnapping Suspect Surrenders Following Pursuit Along Orange County Freeways

The 22-year-old La Habra man was taken into custody for kidnapping and a no-bail warrant.

A man was taken into custody for kidnapping a woman following a nearly hour-long pursuit along Orange County freeways Saturday.

Around 5:45 p.m., officers received a call regarding a woman being physically pulled into a vehicle in the area of Walnut Street and Imperial Highway in La Habra.

Before officers arrived, the car took off and headed eastbound on Imperial Highway, the caller told police. The caller followed the vehicle for a short time and said they saw two people fighting inside the car.

When the police spotted the car, the driver failed to stop and "performed several evasive maneuvers" in an attempt to lose officers, according to the La Habra Police Department.

During the pursuit, a woman jumped out of the passenger side door as the car was turning onto the 91 Freeway in Fullerton. Officers safely removed the woman from the road.

The driver continued on through multiple cities and freeways in the Orange County area.

The pursuit ended around 6:30 p.m. when the driver pulled over and surrendered on the southbound 5 Freeway in Irvine.
