IE Residents Face Fines for Not Clearing Brush Ahead of Fire Season

A brush fire that began Sunday near Lake Mathews scorched more than 250 by Monday morning, according to Riverside County fire officials.
The fire did not threaten any structures. The fire was fully contained Monday moring.
Reports of the fire came in shortly before 4 p.m. and burned during a windy afternoon in the Inland Empire, which felt gusts up to 21 mph.
More than a dozen trucks, 150 firefighters, four helicopters and seven air tankers responded to the blaze as of 6 p.m. Sunday.
The flames starting burning about 2 acres before growing to 20 then to 60 within an hour. Within two hours, the blaze swallowed more than 120 acres of vegetation.
