Later Evenings: BOLD Beverly Hills Opens

Fireworks and a concert from Poncho Sanchez opens the "open later" evenings in the Golden Triangle.

Spent some quality time along Rodeo Drive?

Chances are you were sightseeing, or shopping, or dining, or visiting the swanky automobiles that go on display each Father's Day at the Concours d'Elegance, or calling upon the area for the famous holiday decorations, the ones that glitter up and down the iconic thoroughfare.

But there's a fresh way to do Beverly Hills, and it involves staying out through sundown, and into the evening, while enjoying the restaurant scene, and still-open shops, and other special happenings each Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night in August.

It's called B.O.L.D., which stands for Bevery Hills Open Later Days, and it all launches lavishly, and with glittery Golden Triangle-type style, on Thursday, Aug. 3.

There shall be a Grand Fireworks Display to kick off the month-long, select-dates run, and DJs spinning buoyant, and a concert from the great Poncho Sanchez, too.

Also? Keep your peepers peeled for a Maserati, which is open for test rides, and the #ONLYONRODEO Interactive Photo Box.

And occurring at the same time as B.O.L.D. is the brand-new, powerful-of-hue Neon Nights in 3D at the Lily Pond at Beverly Gardens Park. This new art installation, which was developed by philanthropically minded organization Portraits of Hope, includes over 1,000 flower-painted discs that glow under blacklight.

LA says goodbye to the iconic Conga Room

Oh yes, and they float, too. Neato. Oh yes, and you may admire them in the daytime, too, sans the 3D glasses and blacklight. Also pretty darn nifty.

Over 90 retail businesses will participate in B.O.L.D., so stop by through 8 p.m. on any August Thursday, Friday, or Saturday to weave into and savor the swanky, post-twilight scene.

And for the tunes and fireworks? Thursday, Aug. 3 is your date for those, do keep in mind that the party will push a bit beyond 9 o'clock, which is fireworks time.

Call it another way to dip into the posh multi-block spread, beyond the fancy cars of Father's Day, beyond the seasonal decorations, and beyond the traditional daytime hours of the area.

The walk-around evenings are staying toastier, as they do in August, and Beverly Hills is open for business after dark over several celebratory days.
