Latinos now outnumber whites in the San Fernando Valley, according to a new report.

The data comes from the 2000 census report, which was recently updated thanks to data from the 2008 American Community Survey, LAist reported.

In the valley, Latinos represent 42.4 percent of the population, while whites represent 41.8 percent, according to the report. As a whole, Los Angeles is 49.1 percent Latino and 28.9 percent white, LAist reported.

That wasn't the only statistical gem LAist dug up.

Since 2000, the valley's population has increased 3.5 percent. Also, according to the report, valley residents are more educated than other parts of the city. For more census stats, check out LAist's report.
