Lions, Tigers and Bears Among Evacuees
Animals are evacuated from the Wildlife WayStation.
The Station Fire approached the "Wildlife WayStation" Tuesday in Little Tujunga Canyon.
The sanctuary has more than 400 wild and exotic animals, including pumas, lions, tigers, chimps and eagles. Employees and volunteers are preparing to evacuate all the animals.
Many of its smaller animals -- goats, pigs and chimps, were moved Tuesday. The challenge is the large animals, especially the grizzly bears. They’re trying to get the larger animals into cages that can fit onto the many trucks that have been donated to transport the animals to safety.
An 18-wheel Budweiser truck was used to transport some of the animals, according to the LA Times.
There's word that some of the animals were taken to the Los Angeles Zoo, among other locations. But a Waystation employee said they haven't found evacuation spots for all the animals.
