Suspect Sought in Long Beach Hit-and-Run That Left Skateboarder Critically Injured

Victor Garcia, or Gracia, is being sought after the Aug. 30 collision.

Long Beach police Thursday released a photo of a man sought for an Aug. 30 hit-and-run crash that critically injured a 23-year-old skateboarder who remains hospitalized in critical condition.

The suspect's name may be Victor Garcia or Victor Gracia, and he may be from the Cudahy or South Gate area, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

He is Hispanic, about 25-35 years old, 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 130 pounds, with dark hair.

The crash occurred about 1:40 p.m. on Anaheim Street at Oregon Avenue. An SUV was westbound on Anaheim Street when it hit the north curb, striking Enrique Tejeda of Long Beach, police said.

The driver sped away, but a witness followed and got the SUV's license number, which was given to police. A short time later, officers found the black 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe abandoned a few blocks from the accident scene and impounded it.

Officers circulated the driver's photo, along with security video of the SUV as it approached the skateboarder that day.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call detectives at (562) 570-7132, or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
