A retired couple is breathing a sigh of relief after being reunited with their car, which was stolen and used to lead police on a high-speed chase.
Richard and Susan Tier's 2005 Acura SUV was stolen while parked on La Venta Drive in Westlake Village one week ago, but on Tuesday, the Los Angeles Police Department spotted it in North Hollywood and chased the vehicle for 10 minutes through the San Fernando Valley.
"Look what big trouble they're in now," said Susan Tier as she and her husband sat on a couch in their Westlake Village Home. "What a shame. You have to think about the consequences of your act."
She was referring to the man and two women inside the car during the chase. The trio abandoned the vehicle at a Food 4 Less in Pacoima before running inside and trying to hide the two guns in their possession.
Officers had to evacuate frightened customers before taking all three into custody. They face felony charges for evading police and being in possession of a firearm.
The Tiers now have to wait about a week before they're reunited with their car and the items inside, including Susan Tier's walker and CDs of the couple's favorite Broadway show tunes.
"I hope they kept it in the same shape that it was in before, without any beatings," Richard Tier said.
