15-Year-Old Pursuit Driver Spins, Surrenders in South LA Neighborhood

The pursuit on streets in South Los Angeles ended after a spin through an intersection

A 15-year-old driver wanted in connection with what was initially a reckless driving report crashed at a South Los Angeles intersection before surrendering to officers after an early morning pursuit.

The pursuit through business districts and on narrow residential streets began at about 5:40 a.m. after a report of a reckless driver. Police later determined that the vehicle involved had been reported stolen.

The driver of the white Honda sedan went through several intersections without stopping for red lights and multiple collisions were reported.

Pursuing officers backed off and entered "tracking mode," using the police helicopter to track the car. The driver entered spin through an intersection and stopped a few blocks away in a residential neighborhood.

The driver got out of the car and retrieved a phone from the vehicle before running back toward the intersection of 77th and Figueroa streets and surrendering to officers.

He was arrested on suspicion of auto theft and evading police.
