2 Dead, 2 Injured When Car Spins Out in South LA County

Firefighters pulled four people from a wrecked car that spun out and hit a tree in Los Angeles County, but only two people survived, authorities said.

The two backseat passengers were pronounced dead where the crashed car was found, near the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and carlin Avenue, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lt. Michael Thomas.

The crash was reported at around 1 a.m. Authorities have not released the identities of anyone involved in the crash.

The car lost control while driving southbound on Atlantic Avenue, hit a tree and crashed through metal barriers into a parking lot, Thomas said.

The driver and front-seat passenger were injured and taken to a hospital, deputies said.

Deputies interviewed witnesses and were investigating to see if alcohol played a factor in the crash.
