A woman believed to be in her 50s was shot and killed inside a convenience store in Lynwood Thursday afternoon.

Sheriff’s homicide detectives were sent to the 11000 block of South Alameda Street, near 110th Street at the border with Watts, at 4:18 p.m., said Deputy Kim Manatt of the Sheriff’s Headquaters Bureau.

The woman was declared dead at the scene.

A sheriff’s detective told NBC4 that "at this point, we’re dealing with the possibility that she is an employee or owner of the liquor store."

Tamlin Watkins, who said he knew the victim and her husband, described the couple as "always joking and very good people to have in the community."

Detectives are looking into whether an attempted robbery at the store may be linked to the shooting.

The victim was found on the floor of the business after a 911 call.

Family members came by, visibly shaken by the death.

Detectives said they are looking into whether surveillance video may have captured the deadly incident.

"We haven’t seen any video at this time, and we’re still trying to determine if video exists," a detective said.
