Magnitude 2.4 Earthquake Near Manhattan Beach Area

A magnitude-2.4 earthquake centered off the coast of Manhattan Beach stuck at 9:23 p.m. on Sunday night according to the United States Geological Survey.

The USGS said the earthquake was at a depth of 9.5 km, which is slightly more than 5.9 miles.

Some residents got an early warning before Tuesday's earthquake. Kim Baldonado reports for NBC4 News at 5 p.m. on Aug. 29, 2018.

Considering the relative weakness of the earthquake, no major damage was expected and the tremor was not widely felt across Southern California.
