Major SoCal Drug Bust Nets 107 Pounds of Meth

Authorities arrested four people and seized more than 100 pounds of methamphetamine and other drugs - worth $5.9 million - following an undercover investigation into a drug-trafficking organization, officials said Wednesday.

The arrests happened Tuesday, after an undercover law-enforcement operative arranged to buy drugs at a meeting place in Fontana.

Authorities moved in, made arrests and seized 10 pounds of drugs, according to Steve Utter, special agent in charge for the California Department of Justice Bureau of Investigation.

Officials then served a search warrant on a nearby address, where they found more drugs and cash.

In all, they found:

  • 107 pounds of methamphetamine
  • 9.5 pounds of cocaine
  • 1/2 pound of heroin
  • $27,500 in cash

Arrested were: Jesus Aramando Cardena-Selem, 25, Ramiro Gil Guerra, 40, Sergio Mercado-Vasquez, 32, and Juan Gabriel Angula Cabrera, 37.

The bust stemmed from an investigation that began Sept. 13 into a drug-trafficking ring that brought illegal drugs into the U.S. from Mexico.

The agency that made the bust is known as INCA, Inland Crackdown Allied Taskforce. It was formed in 1991 and includes local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.
