Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department
Do you know this man?
A man with bad teeth who attacked a woman in Point Dume State Park and stole her Toyota Land Cruiser was still at large Saturday.
The man may be transient.
Sheriff's deputies got a tip that he may have "hung out at Starbucks in Malibu," a dispatcher at the sheriff's Malibu/Lost Hills Station said Saturday. "Another was he's a sex offender from Huntington Beach."
The suspect is 35-40 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches and 200 pounds, with a stocky build and no front teeth. He was wearing a black leather jacket and blue jeans, but no shoes.
The 35-year-old victim, who escaped by scrambling down a seaside cliff, was treated at a hospital for scrapes and bruises and released.
She had just finished jogging shortly before noon Friday when the man grabbed her from behind and tried to sexually assault her, Malibu/Lost Hills Station deputies said.
The woman fought the man off, ran to the edge of a cliff, jumped and slid down to the beach below, deputies said.
The man did not follow her off the cliff, but he took her white 2004 Toyota Land Cruiser. He was believed to still be in possession of the vehicle, license plate 6CHF554.
Several people phoned in tips Friday night following 11 p.m. newscasts about the attack, a watch deputy in Malibu said.
Anyone with more information about the attack was asked to call the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station at 818-878-1808.
