An employee of a Malibu restaurant was found dead Sunday outside the business in a shopping center just off Pacific Coast Highway, according to sheriff's deputies.
The deceased, an employee at Guido's Restaurant, was confronted by several subjects in a parking lot behind the shopping center businesses. The body was found in front of the restaurant.
A co-worker told NBC4 the man was last seen Saturday night. The deceased was in his mid-20s, said co-worker Victor Barraza.
"No problems with anybody," Barraza said. "He's a real nice guy."
Initial reports indicated the man was shot. Authorities later indicated the man was "brutally beaten," but as of 10 a.m. authorities had yet to determine a cause of death.
A witness told police that the man had injuries to the face, said Sheriff's Lt. Eddie Hernandez.
Authorities received reports of the body at about 8:30 p.m.
