For Californians who love to ski or snowboard, the wait is over.
Mammoth Mountain opened Thursday, making it the first ski resort to open in California this season
Three of Mammoth's ski lifts were open on Thursday morning--Broadway Express, Chair 3 and the gondola, according to the resort.
The mountain had about 6 to 36 inches of snow, and opening day lift tickets were on sale for $50.
Several other California resorts plan to open in mid-November.
