Man Accused in Deadly Ventura Shooting Arrested in Mexico

A 29-year-old man accused of fatally shooting a man and wounding a woman in Ventura has been arrested, officials said Sunday.

Brandon Ellis, 29, was taken into custody around 6:30 p.m. Saturday at a bar in Rosarito, Mexico with the assistance of the FBI and the US Marshals Service, according to the the Ventura Police Department.

Once back in the U.S., Ellis was transported and booked into the Ventura County Jail on suspicion of murder and attempted murder, police said.

Ellis is accused of fatally shooting a 47-year-old man and shooting a woman multiple times in the 1600 block of Tapir Circle on Thursday, Ventura police said.

The relationship between the suspect and the victims was unknown.

Police also found a 16-month-old baby and another woman inside the home. Both were uninjured.

The injured woman was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police believe the shooting was not a random act. No further details were immediately available.
