Man Accused of Secretly Recording Women in Denny's Restaurant Restroom

Authorities are seeking additional victims.

Authorities Wednesday sought additional victims of a 21-year-old man charged with recording women in bathroom stalls at a Lancaster restaurant.

Jesus Calvario, who allegedly hid in a women's bathroom stall at the Denny's restaurant at 1028 W. Avenue I and used his cellphone to take video of women using the restroom, pleaded not guilty Tuesday to 21 misdemeanor counts of unauthorized invasion of privacy, three misdemeanor counts of unauthorized invasion of privacy of an identifiable person and one misdemeanor count of possession of methamphetamine.

Calvario is due back in court in Lancaster Nov. 29 and remains jailed in lieu of $100,000 bail.

According to the District Attorney's Office, Calvario went into the women's restroom on various occasions between Nov. 5 and Nov. 13, hid in a stall and secretly recorded women who came into the bathroom. He is also accused of secretly recording a female relative on Nov. 9.

Calvario faces up to 12 years in jail if convicted.

"Detectives would like to speak to any woman who used the woman's restroom at this Denny's location (between Thursday and Sunday),'' said Deputy Miguel Ruiz of the Sheriff's Lancaster Station. Authorities believe there may be up to 20 additional victims.

Specifically, investigators want women to come forward if they used the restroom:

  • Thursday between 1:30 a.m. and 5 a.m. or 12:30 p.m. and 2:15 p.m.;
  • Saturday between 3 p.m. and 3:20 p.m.; or
  • Sunday between 12:15 a.m. and 1 a.m.
