Orange County prosecutors asked for public help Wednesday identifying possible additional victims of a man already charged with sexually assaulting a teenage girl in San Juan Capistrano and a 19-year-old woman in Santa Ana.
Alejando Hernandez Garcia, 41, of San Juan Capistrano, is scheduled to be arraigned Aug. 18 on charges that could land him in prison for 98 years to life, according to the District Attorney's Office.
According to prosecutors, Garcia allegedly sexually assaulted a 16-year- old girl on July 13, 2016, by dragging her into a San Juan Capistrano garage and locking her inside. The alleged victim knew Garcia only as "Tiburon," the Spanish word for "shark."
Garcia is also accused of raping a 19-year-old woman who was lost in Santa Ana on Aug. 18, 2016. He allegedly gave the woman an alcoholic beverage that was spiked with "an illegal drug," then sexually assaulted her in the backseat of his car, prosecutors said.
He was arrested Aug. 1, two days after he returned to the San Juan Capistrano neighborhood of his first alleged victim, who spotted him and called the sheriff's department, according to prosecutors.
In his mug shot, Garcia has a black eye. That is the result of a crowd who "detained" him when one of the victims recognized him, the District Attorney's Office said.
Garcia, who is jailed in lieu of $1 million bail, was charged with single counts of forcible rape, sodomy by force and rape by use of a drug, along with two counts each of sexual penetration by foreign object and forcible oral copulation.
