Man Armed With Crossbow in Custody After Standoff

A man armed with a crossbow was arrested Tuesday night after barricading himself inside a home in the 22500 block of Criswell Street in West Hills, police said.

The incident began after a landlord threatened his tenant with a crossbow, and the tenant called 911 just after 5 p.m., according to Officer Lopez with LAPD’s media relations section.

The landlord then barricaded himself inside and refused to come out despite repeated requests from police officers.

The LAPD SWAT team were called to the scene and neighbors were evacuated. The bomb squad also responded to the home.

Officers used tear gas to force the man out of the home and took him into custody.
