Man Arrested After Setting Car Fires Outside San Bernardino Church

Police say they don't know why the man set the fires

A man was arrested Sunday for allegedly setting cars on fire at a church parking lot in San Bernardino.

San Bernardino Police Department officers arrested 62-year-old Fred Lee Wilson after responding to a report of two cars on fire just before 3 a.m. outside a church on the 1200 block of north Sierra Way, said SBPD Lt. Mike Madden.

The man ran away from the church before being spotted by an officer and taken into custody, Madden said. Police don't yet know why Wilson set the cars on fire Madden said.

Wilson is being held on numerous charges, including arson. No one was hurt in the fire before the San Bernardino County Fire Department put out the flames, Madden said.
