Man Arrested After Three Cars Are Set on Fire in Downtown Los Angeles

The first call came in at 2:44am, after a black sports car on the 1000 block of South Hill Street was set alight, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

A man has been arrested after three vehicles were torched in downtown Los Angeles early Thursday.

The first call came in at 2:44am, after a black sports car on the 1000 block of South Hill Street was set alight, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Moments later a call came in after a PT Cruiser on the 900 block of South Hill Street was torched at 2:52 a.m. The final call came in at 3:16 a.m. after a minivan was set on fire on the 200 block of East 11th Street.

All three fires were extinguished quickly by Los Angeles City Fire Department firefighters.

Witnesses told investigators a man had been seen in an alley lighting the vehicles, and a trash can, on fire. 

LAPD have detained a suspect in connection with all three fires. He is a transient and may have mental health issues. Los Angeles Fire Department Arson Investigators also attended the scene.
