A man was arrested Saturday morning after police said they saw him steal money out of his companion's wallet during a traffic stop for a suspected DUI.
Officers made the stop at 2 a.m. in the 200 block of West College Street in Covina. While one officer was administering a sobriety test to the driver, another officer saw Victor Hugo Rojas-Salgado allegedly take money out of the driver's wallet, police said.
The officer asked the driver if Rojas-Salgado should be going through his wallet, and when the driver said no, the officer arrested Rojas-Salgado in connection with the petty theft.
The driver was cited for a traffic violation.
