Man Barricaded in Town House Dead After SWAT Team Enters Residence: LASD

A man has died after an hourslong standoff at a Los Angeles-area town house Sunday morning after a reported domestic dispute, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies said at about 1:30 p.m. that he died after a SWAT team entered the residence where he was barricaded, more than 12 hours after deputies responded to a domestic violence call at 12:45 a.m. It was unclear how the man died.

Neighbors were evacuated as a precaution from the area around a residence in the 900 block of Willow Avenue in La Puente.

A woman said she was being threatened by a man, according to a department representative. She was able to escape and family members took her to a hospital, but the man barricaded himself inside the residence, deputies said.

The man was believed to be armed, according to the sheriff's department.

The intersection of Willow Avenue and Amar Road was blocked off.
