After allegedly reversing his car into an elderly woman in a Huntington Beach McDonald's parking lot in April, a man was charged Thursday for the hit-and-run collision.
Taylor Kirby, 24, from Long Beach, was charged with one felony count of hit-and-run with injury, according to the Orange County District Attorney's office.
Kirby was caught by police after surveillance video allegedly showed him reversing his grey Dodge Challenger in a McDonald's parking lot, and striking an 86-year-old woman before driving away, police said.
He was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run by the Huntington Beach Police Department in May.
In the video, the woman walks with a hunch as she makes her way out of a business and into the parking lot. Once the woman is in the parking lot, the car is seen driving in reverse and knocking the woman to the ground.
A passenger can be seen getting out of the car to check on the woman, and the victim's husband, who was holding a cane, appears to urge the male driver to also get out of the car.
The driver seen in the video gets out of the car, looks on at the woman at the ground before he and the passenger get back in the car and drive away.
Kirby faces a maximum sentence of three years in state prison if convicted, and is out of custody on $50,000 bail.
He is slated to next appear in court Sept. 16.
