Father, 3-Year-Old Son Found Dead Following Standoff in Upscale OC Neighborhood: Deputies

A 41-year-old man who was locked in a standoff with SWAT officers was found shot to death – as well as his 3-year-old son – when officers made their way inside the Orange County home Wednesday night, officials said.

The incident began at 6:08 p.m. when a caller dialed 911 and hung up, said Lt. Jeff Hallock of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said.

When deputies arrived to the home in the 00 block of Swallows Lane in Trabuco Canyon, an upscale community in the southern end of the county, a woman came out carrying her daughter. The woman's husband barricaded himself inside.

SWAT officers entered the home after two shots were fired and discovered the man and the boy dead of gunshot wounds, Hallock said.

The sheriff's department identified the father and son as Luis Arizmendi, 41 and Sebastian Arizmendi, 3. Deputies said on Thursday the deaths were being investigated as a murder-suicide.
