Two men were shot Thursday afternoon in Hawthorne, according to police.
The shooting was reported at 3:52 p.m. in the 12900 block of Doty Avenue, according to Hawthorne police, but details were sketchy.
A Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatch supervisor said two patients were taken to a hospital.
One of the victims was in critical condition, he said, but it was unclear whether it was the adult or the child.
A desk officer had no information on the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including whether anyone had been taken into custody.
