Man Critically Injured After Suspected DUI Crash in Boyle Heights

A man is facing DUI charges after he struck another vehicle in a head-on collision in Boyle Heights early Saturday morning, police said.

Authorities responded to a multi-vehicle crash around 2:20 a.m. in the 400 block of Lorena Street and found two vehicles.

The driver of a Nissan 370Z was headed soutbound on 4th Street when it lost control and veered into the northbound lanes hitting a Lexus 300, according to the LAPD.

The driver of the Lexus suffered internal injuries as well as abraisons to his face and knees. The suspected DUI driver of the Nissan had minor injuries, police said. Both drivers were transported to LA County USC Medical Center.

Police said the driver of the Nissan would be taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Police initially said they believed both cars were racing during the crash.
