A man died after he was struck with an unknown object then run over multiple times by a vehicle late Monday near Centennial Park in Santa Ana, according to the Santa Ana Police Department.
Authorities responded to a call of vehicle versus pedestrian collision around 7 p.m. at the park. Upon arrival, they found the man unresponsive and transported him to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
Investigators said the man was involved in an altercation before he was struck by the object. He is believed to be in his early 20s, according to police.
Details on what vehicle struck the victim or a potential suspect were not immediately clear.
Detectives are investigating the homicide.
